This page explains how to have the data AdCharter received from Meta (Facebook and Instagram) deleted. You can do it from Facebook, from AdCharter or by email. For everything else about personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
1. What Meta data we hold
AdCharter only holds Meta data when a brand admin has connected a brand to Meta with Facebook Login for Business. For that connection, we may hold:
- the access token issued by Meta (stored encrypted), the ID and name Meta provides for the person or business that connected, and the permissions granted;
- the names and IDs of the ad accounts, businesses, Facebook Pages, Instagram accounts and Meta pixels used with AdCharter;
- the names, IDs, status and settings of campaigns, ad sets and ads, and Meta's review results, such as the reason an ad was rejected;
- the IDs of images, videos and posts used in ads;
- aggregated performance results per ad, such as spend, impressions, outbound clicks, reach, purchases and purchase value.
We don't hold information about the individual people who see or interact with the ads. Section 5 of our Privacy Policy explains how and why we use this data.
2. Option 1: Remove AdCharter in Facebook
- In Facebook, go to Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and websites. If you connected AdCharter for a business, look under Business Integrations instead.
- Find AdCharter and select Remove.
Meta then notifies AdCharter automatically. We delete that connection's access token and the Meta data we received through it (see section 5), and Meta shows you a confirmation code. You can check the progress of your request on the status page Meta links to, using that code.
3. Option 2: Disconnect Meta in AdCharter
If you are a brand admin, open the brand's settings in AdCharter and disconnect Meta. We stop using the connection straight away and delete its access token and the Meta data we received through it (see section 5).
4. Option 3: Email us
Email [to be provided: privacy email address] with the subject “Data deletion request” and include:
- the name on your Facebook profile or of your Meta business;
- if you know it, the name of the AdCharter organisation or brand that used the connection.
We may ask you to confirm that you control the Facebook profile or business before we delete anything. We confirm by email once the deletion is done.
5. What we delete and when
- Access tokens: deleted as soon as we receive Meta's notification, you disconnect in AdCharter, or we have verified your email request. From that moment AdCharter can no longer access your Meta accounts.
- Other Meta data from that connection (account, Page, Instagram and pixel details, campaign, ad set and ad details, review results and performance results): deleted within 30 days.
- Backups: deleted data can remain in our encrypted backups for up to 30 more days before it is overwritten.
After deletion, AdCharter no longer shows performance results for the ads concerned.
6. What is not deleted
- Content your organisation created in AdCharter, such as briefs, launch briefs, ad copy, approved files and comments, stays with your organisation, because it belongs to your organisation and not to Meta. Your organisation can delete it in AdCharter, or by deleting the organisation.
- Ads that are already live in Meta stay in your ad account. Deleting data in AdCharter doesn't pause or delete them. Manage them in Meta Ads Manager.
- Data Meta holds about you is governed by Meta's Privacy Policy.
7. Deleting your account or organisation
This page covers Meta data only. You can also delete your AdCharter account in your account settings, and organisation admins can delete their organisation, which permanently removes all its data, including Meta data, 30 days after the request. Sections 12 and 14 of our Privacy Policy explain how this works.
